Navy Burial at Sea
Committal on a Navy ship. VA national cemeteries cannot do this. A government headstone or marker may still be available afterward.
Who it is for. Uniformed-service members, retirees, honorably discharged former members, some Military Sealift Command civilians, and some dependents.
Bring. Death certificate, burial-transit or cremation certificate, and DD-214 or retirement order. Primary next of kin requests the Navy packet.
Timing. After death, call MyNavy Career Center 833-330-6622 (24/7) for the packet.
FortSource maps the official page. No claim filed on anyone’s behalf. Not VA, not DoD, and not legal advice. The issuing agency’s form wins.
